Q1. What all do I need to do for making a payment using SBI Card Pay feature in the SBI Card Mobile App?

You would need the following to make a payment using SBI Card Pay feature:

  • Visa or Mastercard Credit Card from SBI Card
  • Updated ‘SBI Card Mobile App’
  • Android Smartphone with OS KitKat version 4.4 & above

Q2. How does a payment happen with the SBI Card Pay feature?

SBI Card Pay uses the NFC technology to make a contactless payment that is carried out by using a smartphone at NFC enabled Point of Sale (POS) machines. You can transact up to Rs. 25,000 in a day (max. capping of up to Rs. 5,000 per transaction). For transactions above Rs. 5000, card PIN needs to be entered for completing the payment.

Q3. What is NFC?

Near Field Communication or NFC is a method of wirelessly transmitting data using radio waves. Tap to Pay uses NFC to wirelessly transmit payment data to payment terminals with NFC readers that have been activated for use. The payment information is transmitted in an encrypted format making the transaction completely secure.

Q4. How can I register my SBI Credit Card to pay using the SBI Card Pay feature?

You can follow the below steps to register your SBI Credit Card on the SBI Card Pay feature:

  • Download the latest version of the SBI Card App from Playstore
  • Log into SBI Card App and click on the ‘SBI Card Pay’ icon present at the bottom of screen
  • Select the SBI Card that you wish to register, agree to the SBI Card Terms & Conditions and click on the ‘Link Card’ button

On successful registration, you will receive an SMS on your registered mobile number.

Q5. How can I make payments using SBI Card Pay?

You can follow the below steps to pay using the SBI Card Pay feature:

  • Open the SBI Card Mobile App
  • Click on the ‘SBI Card Pay’ icon on the pre-login page or on the account summary page that appears after you have logged into your account
  • Select the SBI Card with which you want to pay & click on the ‘PAY’ button
  • Tap the device on the NFC enabled POS machine
  • On successful payment, you will receive a payment confirmation SMS on your registered mobile number

You can also make payments without opening the SBI Card App. Just unlock the mobile device and tap on the NFC enabled merchant’s POS machine to make the payment.

Q6. How can I de-link my SBI Card from the SBI Card Pay feature?

You can follow the below steps to de-link your SBI Card from the SBI Card Pay feature:

  • Open SBI Card App & login to your account
  • Click on the App Settings and click on the ‘SBI Card Pay’ button
  • Select the SBI Card that you wish to de-link
  • Press on ‘DELINK’ button

You will receive an SMS on your registered mobile number on successful de-linking of your SBI Credit Card from the Tap to Pay feature.
