Message from Mr. Abhijit Chakravorty, MD & CEO, SBI Card
Our core philosophy at SBI Card has been to make life simple for our customers. Over the years, this philosophy has been guiding us as we work towards simplifying the lives of our customers and other stakeholders through trust and excellence. We have incorporated this ethos into our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives as well, as we strive to bring impactful change in the lives of the communities we work with.
Giving back to the society at large has been a core component of our way of doing business. We continuously explore and implement innovative ways and solutions to address social and environmental challenges faced by our community. Through our various CSR projects, we have been aiming to create sustainable and positive impact on the world around us.
In our endeavour to do so over the years, we have channelised our efforts into five focus areas which include:
1. Healthcare
We have been supporting government and charitable hospitals to facilitate better healthcare access to underprivileged communities for both physical and mental health. For instance, we have piloted and scaled up telemedicine services in the remote Mewat region.
2. Education
In the education space, SBI Card has taken up projects to enhance physical and digital infrastructure of government schools and, to improve their overall quality of education. These projects have been implemented with an aim to expose students to new-age technology while supporting teachers to integrate new technology and new methods of pedagogy.
3. Skill Development
To improve the employability of our youth, SBI Card has undertaken various skilling projects, especially for people with disability.
4. Environment
Under our various environment-focused projects, we have directed our resources towards areas of solid waste management, improving quality of air, afforestation, renewable energy and watershed management.
5. Rural Development
Under rural development, we have directed our resources towards holistic development of rural areas and improve quality of life by providing Quality Healthcare, Quality education, Access to clean water, livelihood generation, reducing migration and development of model villages through improved infrastructure.
At SBI Card, we recognise that we should act as a catalyst to bring about the required change in the society. To this end, we have been investing in relevant and context specific solutions for communities, and thereby, driving a meaningful and purposeful change in the lives of fellow citizens.
We will continue to amplify the socio-economic impact of our CSR investments to contribute towards our nation’s holistic growth story.

Shri Rajendra Kumar Saraf
Position: Chairman, Independent Director
He holds a Master’s degree in Physics from IIT Kanpur and a diploma in financial management. He is an Associate of IIB and Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India. He has held multiple positions during his tenure with SBI in India and abroad, including the Deputy MD and CFO of SBI. He has been advisor and mentor for two important initiatives, viz., Bharat Bill Payment System run by NPCI and TReDS run by Mynd Solutions. He serves as Chairman of the Technical Advisory Committee and External Expert on the Price Discussion Committee at NPCI. He is also a senior advisor to TVS Capital Funds. Shri Abhijit Chakravorty
Position: Member, Executive Nominee Director
Mr. Abhijit Chakravorty took the helm at SBI Card on 12 August 2023. Based in Gurgaon, he manages all facets of SBI Card`s business. He has been a part of State Bank of India, India`s oldest and largest banking group, for almost three decades now. With rich experience of 34 years in the banking sector, he has adeptly worked with various divisions of the bank that include retail and corporate banking, overseas operations, and IT infrastructure. Currently, he is the Deputy Managing Director in State Bank of India (SBI. Prior to joining SBI Card, Mr. Chakravorty led the IT operations of the customer facing channels and payment systems as Chief General Manager (Channels & Operations) at the Global IT Centre of SBI. One of his previous assignments with the bank includes his long stint with Commercial Credit Group of SBI where he was involved in high value corporate lending. Mr. Chakravorty has led the operations of SBI in Bangladesh as CEO and Country Head. He has also served at SBI’s Hongkong branch. He was the Chairman and Managing Director of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). Previously, he was LIC’s zonal manager in-charge of eastern zone and its senior divisional manager. Every kit had ration and supplies like pulses, chana, salt, sugar, atta, cooking oil, biscuits, note books, tooth paste and brush, soap, stationery items, sanitary napkins for girls etc.

Know MoreThis project was designed to provide home care support to asymptomatic and mild symptomatic patients of COVID-19 across Gurugram. The aim was to reduce rush to hospital and thereby free up hospitals for treatment of severe and complex cases of COVID-19 infection. Counselling through Teleconsultation were provided along with home visit to infected patients, where they were provided with medical kits and supplies including medicines, oximeter, thermal scanner/digital thermometer, N95 mask, sanitizer etc. as per doctor’s prescription. Progress of patients were regularly monitored through follow-up calls.

Know MoreThe project involved supporting healthcare equipment and medicine for treatment of COVID-19 Patients at Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences through Healing Field Foundation. Under this project, drugs & equipment support was provided to bridge the gap in the supply and thereby support healthcare professional in providing best possible treatment and care to COVID-19 patients. As part of the project ICU Fogging machine, High Flow Nasal Cannula Machines, Cold Storage for Dead Bodies, Ice Lined refrigerators, etc. were supported for timely treatment.

Know MoreInternational Association For Human Values (IAHV) RNT Udaipur: RNT Medical College, Udaipur is a major public healthcare institution catering to patients from adjoining districts of South Rajasthan. In 2021, to strengthen the infrastructure to support critical cases of COVID-19, 14 ICU ventilators were supported by SBI Card. This helped to establish RNT Medical College as a major treatment center for COVID-19 in South Rajasthan.

Know MoreDuring COVID-19, short supply of medical oxygen was one of the major reasons for fatalities. This project was undertaken to improve medical oxygen supply in two COVID Care Centre's established in Delhi by setting up medical Oxygen Generation Plant (OGP) at both locations. One Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) tank of 10,000 liter capacity was also established at Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospitality.

Know MoreA COVID-19 relief project was undertaken to support abandoned and destitute elderly people. Under the project dry ration and basic hygiene kits were distributed to elderlies and differently abled across Delhi. SHEOWS team members undertook distribution while observing all of the COVID-19 protocols. In total 9090 kits were distributed under the project.

Know MoreIn 2021, SBI Card supported the Gurugram district administration's efforts to respond to COVID-19 pandemic. The district administration was provided with 12 ventilators including 2 automatic advance high-end ICU ventilators, 20 BiPAP machines and 45,300 Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) kits at COVID-19 care center established in Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Gurugram.

IAHV-Education
Know MoreInternational Association For Human Values (IAHV) School Development: Project objective is to improve the performance of 14 selected Government schools in Haryana by training the teachers on effective pedagogical approach. Under the project digital infrastructure was provided to 12 top performing schools out of the selected 14 schools. The program was implemented in a participative approach with all key stakeholders including the school authorities, school children, their parents and the local community members. 100 school teachers were trained as part of the project.

Know MoreSBI Card supported education of 200 girls from economically challenged background to continue their education at Vidyapeeth School, Gurgaon. As part of the project, pre-vocational skill training was imparted to 380 students from class 5th to 10th.
Lotus Petal
Know MoreThe project supported the development and operation of the Hybrid School at Lotus Petal Foundation, Silokhera, Gurgaon, Haryana to educate children from underprivileged backgrounds via hybrid model of schooling. The project covered the operating expenses of the hybrid school benefitting 400 students and capital expenses for developing the infrastructure to meet the needs of the new academic session, benefitting 1067 students.

Know MoreSOS Children's Village of India: SBI Card supported 6 family based care homes - 4 in SOS Children's Village of India, Greenfields, Faridabad and 2 in SOS Children's Village located at Bawana. The aim of the project was to provide education and happy family environment to children. Under the project, 86 children were supported.

Know MoreThe aim of the project is to establish 25 Tinkering Labs in Government Schools across Delhi-NCR & Haryana. The labs include educational kits and equipment on science, electronics, robotics, sensors, 3D printers and computers. The tinkering labs will help children understand concepts of coding , science and mathematic by practical applications. An estimated 7500 government school students will be benefitted under the project.

Know MoreThe project implemented by CII Foundation aims to promote sustainable solutions to the farm stubble burning problem. The project is being implemented in 20 villages of Karnal district, Haryana. CII Foundation under the proposed Crop Residue Management Initiative will encourage, train and support farmers to give up the conventional practice of stubble burning and use suitable tools and technologies for managing crop reside in an environment friendly manner, especially through adopting largescale in-situ recycling of crop residue.

Know MoreIndian Pollution Control Association (IPCA): The project aims to create a sustainable supply chain, strengthen the collection & segregation of plastic waste and devising a model to resolve the plastic waste management issues in Delhi & NCR areas. In Phase-1 a Plastic Recycling Facility (PRF) was set up in Greater Noida & a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) was set up in Geeta Colony, East Delhi. The MRF has a capacity to receive and segregate 60 MT of Waste per month and PRF has capacity to process 300 MT per month. In Phase 2 more MRFs are being set up to further integrate plastic waste supply chain. Two more MRFs are being set up in East Delhi to receive and segregate plastic waste. In addition to this one more MRF in Greater Noida is sanctioned for door to door collection, segregation and recycling of waste in collaboration with Greater NOIDA Development authority.

Know MoreThe project objective is to ensure source segregation of waste in Sikanderpur village, spread awareness about waste management, build capacities of city municipal corporation officials and sanitation staff and, enable resource recovery from waste. Infrastructure support has also been provided to establish a wet waste processing plant. The project covers 2500 households and 3000 commercial establishments.

Know MoreThis environment based project aims to plant 30,000 tree saplings of indigenous varieties (Neem, Peepal, Papdi etc.) in the Aravalli Hills, Sohna Block, Gurugram. The objective of the project is to sustain and add green cover at the 30 hectare plantation site. The project will results in significant amount of carbon sequestering and enriching the biodiversity. As of April 2022, 3075 trees of different plant varieties such as Jamun, Rosewood, Neem etc., have been planted.

Know MoreThe project aims to design, supply, erect and commission 300 kWp Grid tied Solar PV plants at 2 government hospitals in Delhi. The project will results in power generation of approximately 4,20,000 kW annually. This will aid in reduction of CO2 emission and will render cumulative saving on electricity cost for the hospitals. As of April 2022, 120 kWp solar plant has been setup at Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital, one of the government hospitals in Delhi and it is expected to be functional in coming months.

The need assessment study has shown that the underground water levels are fast depleting in Nuh, posing threat to livelihoods of farmers and villagers of the area. To tackle the challenge, 15 rainwater harvesting structures and 20 water tanks will be constructed. The project will also equip 50 farmers with sprinklers for water efficient irrigation. As part of the project, local communities have been mobilised for participatory water resources management.

Skill Development
India has one of the youngest population in the world. The need is to capitalize on the demography dividend of the country. However, employability of our youth remains a challenge due to lack of proper training. The situation is more challenging for people with disability and women. Hence, SBI Card has undertaken skill program for people with disability and young women.

CADRRE
Know MoreCentre for Autism and Other Disabilities Rehabilitation, Research, and Education (CADRRE): This project aims to pilot a free Employability Training Program that equips young adults on the Autism spectrum and have finished secondary school education with skills required to be employable. This comprises of level 1 training of 4-6 months on life skills, communication skills and social skills training, followed by a level 2 training of 3-6 months on job specific skills and a level 3 training of 3-4 months of onsite apprenticeship with a potential employer. So far, the first batch of 8 students have completed their level 1 training. Through this project, 100 youth with Autism will be trained and their employability will be enhanced. The aim is to establish a workable and scalable skill development program for youth with Autism.

Know MoreHealthcare Sector Skill Council: The project will train 560 eligible candidates under 4 different COVID-19 Frontline Workers job roles ; to reduce the stress on the healthcare sector and strengthen the skilled human resource capacity to fight the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. The focus is on practical and hands-on skilling by leveraging industry partnerships to provide on-the-job training and placement.

Know MoreNational Association for the Blind: The project supported technology training, personality development and soft skills training for 100 youth with visual impairment. Further, the project also supported the education of 250 school children with visual impairment from February'21 to April'21. The project also supported the renovation of toilets, establishment of a call center (including equipment) and installation of a 65 kWp solar power plant at NAB's Dwarka center.
Noida Deaf Society
Know MoreThe project aims to develop professional job-related skills in deaf youth through focused skilling activities and enabling them to be self reliant members of society. So far, 623 deaf youth have got training, out of which 247 candidates got job placement. Corporates are being sensitise to develop inclusive ecosystem to utilise the strength of deaf youth. So far, 45 corporates have been sensitised regarding person with disability hiring and employment for the trained youth.

Know MoreThe project aims at enabling 500 youth with disability to live financially independent lives through Sarthak SBI Card JEET (Job Entrepreneurship and Empowerment Training) skilling and placement support program at its Kolkata and Ahmedabad training centers. The program encompasses basic skill building, sector specific training, pre-employment training, allied activities, regular assessments and feedback.

Know MoreThe 'Future Perfect' initiative for skill development and entrepreneurship project was aimed at improving the employability of India's underprivileged youth. The project focused on helping them acquire English language skills and other new age employability enhancing skills, followed by job placements in service sector and lifelong support.

Know MoreThe project will directly impact 1,200 young women candidates of Government Girls’ College, Sector 14, Gurugram. A Centre of Excellence for skill development at Government Girls’ College, Sector 15, Gurugram has been established and training is being provided in two Telecom sector job roles of In Store Promoter and Customer Care Executive.

During COVID-19, weakness of our health infrastructure was exposed like never before. This was starker in public health facilities which are accessed by majority of Indian population putting extreme pressure on already stretched system resulting into lack of access to timely, quality and affordable health services. With the intention to improve the situation, SBI Card together with its implementing agencies has invested in health infrastructure in government and charitable hospitals with an aim to strengthen these facility which are accessed by underprivileged communities. Further, the company has piloted and scaled up telemedicine services in the remote Mewat region with an aim to provide quality affordable health services at door-step and there by helping in reducing pressure on Community Health Centers, Primary Health Centers and District Hospitals.

MAMTA Health Institute for Mother and Child
Know MoreSBI Card in collaboration with MAMTA Health Institute for Mother and Child, has been supporting the project with an aim to improve mental wellbeing and resilience among adolescents and young married women through community led approach in Government of India’s RMNCH+A strategy. Phase 1 of the project covered 23757 beneficiaries through behavioral change communication based sessions. Phase 2 started in February 2022 and is extending mental health awareness to the larger population of the community through focused interventions developed during the first phase.
Manzil Mystics
Know MoreThis project is focusing on imparting life skills and mental well-being through music among students of government and low income schools, communities and organisations working with such communities. The project intends to enable children express their hopes, feelings, ideas, happiness, anger and frustration through music. As part of the project, a mobile music studio has been developed and is being used to train students in their schools and communities. So far, 4370 children have received music exposure/workshops on continuous basis and 100 youth from low income background have been supported with training on sound engineering, film making and graphic designing.

Know MoreCOVID-19 and subsequent lockdowns have brought back focus on Mental Health. With an aim to develop resilience in students of standard 6-8 enrolled in Delhi NCR schools, audiovisual workshops based on bio-psycho and socio-cultural models of well-being have been included in the project. The workshops aims to improve adaptive skills, handle stress, increase cultural rootedness and strengthen value system which will help them to lead a disciplined and fulfilling life. The project also supports publication of e-magazine ”Mansik Swasthya Patrika” to spread awareness on mental health in Hindi language.

Know MoreRound Table India Trust: The project aims to empower people with locomotive disorder with advance mobility devices, by providing a customized and detachable combination of wheelchair and scooter . The project involves providing 154 wheelchairs cum scooter to the identified beneficiaries across India based on parameters like medical diagnosis through clinical assessment and level of need based on economic background. The vehicles come with a three-year warranty and an insurance cover. By April 2022, 78 wheelchair cum scooter has been delivered at different locations of Chennai, Pondicherry and Madurai.

Know MoreCongenital heart disease (CHD) poses a significant global health and economic burden—despite advances in treating CHD reducing the mortality risk, globally CHD accounts for approximately 300,000 deaths yearly. The cost of treating CHD in private hospital varies from 2-8 lakhs making it out of reach for economically weaker sections. With an aim to support such families, Sai Sanjeevani Hospitals have been providing free of cost treatment for CHD patient. SBI Card with an aim to further strengthen the hospital infrastructure, supported supply of critical equipment at Sai Sanjeevani Hospital, Palwal to add 10 beds to its ICU facility and strengthened its Operation Theater infrastructure. Since addition of SBI Card supported equipment in February'22, 203 cases have been treated by the hospital till March'22.

Know MoreSaint Hardayal Educational & Orphans Welfare Society: Under this project, 277 destitute and abandoned elderly beneficiaries were rescued in Delhi/NCR and were provided with nutritious food, clothes, shelter, regular health checkups and physiotherapy sessions during FY 21-22. In addition to rescue, 200 unique beneficiaries were supported under the project , wherein nutritious meals were being served along with general health check-ups and physiotherapy sessions.

Know MoreSmile on Wheels' project aims to provide preventive healthcare facilities to underserved communities of Delhi, Gurugram, Chennai and Agra (Rural and Urban). In the initial phase which lasted till November 2021, around 73,758 OPD consultations were held across 5 locations resulting into increased access to preventive healthcare services in slum and rural pockets. In the ongoing phase, the project is operational in Delhi, Gurugram and Agra (Rural and Urban) along with Nuh, an aspirational district of Haryana. Approx. 25,884 OPD consultation were facilitated under the ongoing phase.

Know MoreIn 2021, SBI Card supported a Telemedicine project in Nuh, Haryana - an aspirational district. The aim of the project is to establish telemedicine facility at Health Sub-Centers with the objectives that people in remote villages can access quality basic health services at their doorstep while reducing the pressure on Primary and Community Health Centers. The project has been designed to provide basic diagnostic tests, consultation with general physician and specialist doctors, providing medicine through a vending machine maintained by the government. In first phase, one telemedicine center was established in Doha Sub-Center. Over a period of 10 months, 3319 consultations facilitated at Doha Sub-center. Learning of the phase 1, helped us making relevant changes/updates in upgrading 9 Sub - Centre's established in Phase 2.
