Card Upgrade Process

  • Q1. In case of an upgrade from a lifetime free card or a flip to a same variant card, will the new card be chargeable?

  • Yes, the new card will be chargeable in case of any upgrade or flip.

    Upgrade to a higher card variant would always be done at a charge, subject to requisite approvals.

  • Q2. Why is the Annual Fee of my old card not reversed post upgrading to a new card ?

  • Annual fee of old card will not be reversed if card is flipped into higher variant.

    Fee is charged only once in a year. Fee for the Upgraded card would be charged as per the card fee date set-up on system, which happens only once in a year.

  • Q3. If I flip my current SBI Card to a higher variant Card, will it be a free card or chargeable Card?

  • Annual fee would be applicable every year in case of Upgrade from a lower to a higher card variant.

  • Q4. When is the spend based reversal criteria applicable on Annual Fee?

  • Spend based reversal benefit is applicable from 2nd year onwards as per Card Fee Date and on certain card types only.

  • Q5. Why haven’t I received the Welcome Voucher in the 2nd year?

  • Welcome Vouchers are sent to the customer only once the Joining fee is paid. While from second year, the customer is eligible for an Annual Fee reversal basis the annual spend criteria for the respective card type.

  • Q6. Why is the credit limit not increased on my upgraded card?

  • As per the norms set by SBICPSL, credit limit remains the same irrespective of the card type that has been upgraded with.

  • Q7. Why haven’t my Reward Points been transferred to my new flipped card account?

  • Rewards Points do not carry forward from Co-brand Card to SBI Card or vice-versa except Air India Card.

    While all reward points will be transferred from Air India Platinum Card to Air India Signature Card & vice-versa

    Only 50 % Reward Points will be carried forward while flipping from SBI Card to Air-India Card. (The redemption value for 1 Reward Point = 1 Airmile in Air India Card)

  • Q8. Why is GST levied along with Fee on the card?

  • This is a statutory requirement from Govt. of India

  • Q9. I am unable to avail BookMyShow offer on my add-on Elite Card, what should I do?

  • This offer is valid on Primary Card only.

  • Q10. What is the criteria for BookMyShow offer?

  • Offer can be availed once in a calendar month.

    While booking, customer needs to select SBI Elite / Signature Card Option to avail the offer.

  • Q11. What will happen to my existing Reward Points in case of upgrade to AURUM Card?

  • The accumulated Reward Points will carry forward to AURUM Card. However, these Reward Points will expire according to the T&C of previous credit card issued to you by SBICard.

    Reward Points earned on AURUM Card post upgrade will never expire.

    Upon upgrading to AURUM Card from any existing card, the accrued reward points on AURUM Card will be redeemed first, followed by any reward points that are carried-forward to the AURUM Card.
